This is going to be a breakdown of the raw power of the xbox 360.

Here are the specs of the system:

Custom IBM PowerPC-based CPU
• Three symmetrical cores running at 3.2 GHz each
• Two hardware threads per core; six hardware threads total
• VMX-128 vector unit per core; three total
• 128 VMX-128 registers per hardware thread
• 1 MB L2 cache

CPU Game Math Performance
• 9 billion dot product operations per second

Custom ATI Graphics Processor
• 500MHz processor
• 10 MB of embedded DRAM
• 48-way parallel floating-point dynamically scheduled shader pipelines
• Unified shader architecture

Polygon Performance
• 500 million triangles per second

Pixel Fill Rate
• 16 gigasamples per second fill rate using 4x MSAA

Shader Performance
• 48 billion shader operations per second

Memory
• 512 MB of GDDR3 RAM
• 700 MHz of DDR
• Unified memory architecture

Memory Bandwidth • 22.4 GB/s memory interface bus bandwidth
• 256 GB/s memory bandwidth to EDRAM
• 21.6 GB/s front-side bus

Overall System Floating-Point Performance
• 1 teraflop

Storage
• Detachable and upgradeable 20GB hard drive
• 12x dual-layer DVD-ROM
• Memory Unit support starting at 64 MB

These specs look pretty daunting but what is really important is the three identical processors running at a blistering 3.2 Ghz and the custom ATI graphics processor running at 500 Mhz, which applys full screen antialiasing to the games which make them very smooth and sharp. This awesome hardware along with the 360's ability to run in 1080i/p high definition resolutions makes it an amazing system, as well as an astonishing bargain.

Assassin's Creed

The new game by Ubisoft, titled
Assassin's Creed, is said to be phenomenal. Watch the interview with the producer (below) to learn about this exciting new game that is sure to ratchet up the bar in terms of the quality and depth of console games. Depending on when I get the game, I may be reviewing the game or I may just provide a small post of my impressions.

Me and my brother have recently just been completely exhausting our collection of xbox games because we really don't have anything else to entertain ourselves until the xbox 360 arrives. I have been playing games like Need for Speed: Carbon and Halo 2. My brother has been playing the one game that he really never got into which is Splinter Cell: Double Agent. He has been having a blast using the stealthiness of Sam Fisher to sneak behind enemies and kill them. Yesterday, he was on a huge cruise ship where he had to find a bomb and blow up the ship! I never got into that series myself and it was very interesting to watch him play the game. The style of the game is very odd to me because I am used to games like Halo 2 and Call of Duty 2 where you just go charging through rooms, guns flaring. The list of games that I am getting for my 360 are as follows:

Halo 3
Bioshock
NCAA 2008 (
me and my brother play the football games together)
Forza Motorsport 2
Marvel Ultimate Alliance

I was really surprised to learn that Microsoft is now offering Forza Motorsport 2 and Marvel Ultimate Alliance bundled with premium xbox 360. The best part is, the console is still only $350. I found this to be truly awesome. As I said in my last post, I will be making posts reviewing all of the games that I get which may include Assassin's Creed.
I am a gaming enthusiast and I decided to make this blog with news and information regarding all things gaming. The world of gaming is HUGE and will just be sharing information regarding games and consoles that I find interesting and that I think you will find interesting as well. I was a devoted PC-only game player but recently I have become obsessed with the next-gen consoles, in particular the xbox 360. I will be getting my 360 next weekend and I just can't wait to crank up the volume and play halo 3 and bioshock in HD. I will probably make another post when I get my console, including reviews about the games that I got, and just general impressions of the console. Well this is all I really have to say, so cya later.
